A longtime friend called yesterday asking if he could spend the night while passing through on his way home to Oklahoma. I was excited at the prospect of seeing him again that, of course, I said yes. After breakfast, he headed on his way, and I ran to a previously scheduled doctor’s appointment. It is monsoon season here in Southern Utah, and it was hot and muggy when I exited the doctor’s office. I promise I hike most Fridays, but for now, I’ll have to settle with another Backlog trip report.

Simply riding over the mountain peaks of British Columbia was a thrill in itself. When the helicopter angled toward a small flat spot, I assumed they were dropping off the more advanced skiers.
