ATV ride to Jodey Point, Jodey Point Summit. Slickrock Bench - UT, quad.

Jodey Point is a minor bump on the plateau compared to the towering cliffs surrounding Rock Springs Bench. I maneuver my ATV under some Juniper Trees and text Linda that I am beginning my summit attempt. Fifteen minutes later, I send her the "I reached the summit" text message.

Surprisingly a small trail exists along the creek bed, and I wander down 50 feet or so, glancing at the northern rock face hoping to see the "Sheepmen's Signatures," which Kesley also mentions in his book.

Rock Springs Bench ATV and UNP 6526, Slickrock Bench - UT, quad

These massive tilted plateaus are what give The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument its name. Sandy inclines that end abruptly at cliffs that drop hundreds of feet to the various rivers that cut and carve their way to the ocean.

Death Valley Draw - Slickrock Bench - UT, quad

The hiking is sand - gravel river bottom, wide with the occasional slick rock and minor dry falls. All easy to step across or work around. Some are beautiful swirl circles of water cut stone.

Rock Spring Bench and Little Mollie's Nipple
