Rockhounding for Thompson Agate - Near Crescent Junction (Moab, UT)

This is a beautiful section of the country. Sitting at the northern tip of Arches National Park, I would later review a map to determine this is certainly a location I want to return to. Not for the agate, but because we were just a couple miles from several amazing arches and bridges that reside in the park.

Gemstone Beach - New Zealand

Gemstone beach is a beautiful beach. A small stream enters the ocean and becomes the source of rocks swept into the sea during rainy periods. The wave action, along with the sand, shapes the stones into beautiful oval and round shapes polished smooth by the sea.

Rock Hounding and the Capitol Reef Loop

July 15, 2016

We have driven 349 miles.  Seen 2 National Parks (Capital Reef and Bryce) 1 National Monument (Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument) and been through 2 national forests (Fishlake and Dixie National Forests) ate good food in Koosharem, found rocks, and generally stayed out way past our bedtime. Road Trip!
