Monsoon season strikes again with heavy downpours yesterday and again last night. The hikes I had planned for today are at the end of a very smooth clay road when dry; they are impassible when wet. Red Butte is one of my favorite peaks in the Smith Mesa - UT quadrangle just outside Zion National Park, on the Kolob Terrace section. Challenging route finding is required to reach this extraordinary summit.
